Pivot Sentences with “qǐng”

兼语句(请)

jiānyǔ jù (qǐng)

How it works

With 请, one person asks another person to do something. The middle noun acts like the object of the first verb and the subject of the second verb.

The pattern

Subject + 请 + Person + Verb

Example sentences

我请你吃饭。

Wǒ qǐng nǐ chīfàn.

I invite you to eat.

老师请他回答问题。

Lǎoshī qǐng tā huídá wèntí.

妈妈请我买菜。

Māma qǐng wǒ mǎi cài.

Mom asks me to buy vegetables.
