How it works

This pattern emphasizes that one side has much more than the other.

A + 比 + B + Adjective / Verb + 多了

这个地方比以前热闹多了。

Zhège dìfang bǐ yǐqián rènào duō le.

This place is much livelier than before.

他现在比我高多了。

Tā xiànzài bǐ wǒ gāo duō le.

He is much taller than me now.

今天比昨天冷多了。

Jīntiān bǐ zuótiān lěng duō le.

Today is much colder than yesterday.

多了 strengthens the comparison.
