How it works

This pattern is used to show that someone has not done something for a period of time.

Common structure Subject + 没 + Verb + Duration + 了

我没见他两年了。

Wǒ méi jiàn tā liǎng nián le.

I have not seen him for two years.

她没回家一个月了。

Tā méi huí jiā yí ge yuè le.

She has not gone home for a month.

我们没一起吃饭很久了。

Wǒmen méi yìqǐ chīfàn hěn jiǔ le.

We have not eaten together for a long time.

This pattern combines negation with duration.
