Sequencing Past Events with “hòulái”

我先在北京工作，后来去了上海。

Wǒ xiān zài Běijīng gōngzuò, hòulái qù le Shànghǎi.

I first worked in Beijing, and later went to Shanghai.

他开始不喜欢学汉语，后来越来越喜欢了。

Tā kāishǐ bù xǐhuan xué Hànyǔ, hòulái yuèláiyuè xǐhuan le.

At first he did not like learning Chinese, but later he liked it more and more.

我们先下雨了，后来天晴了。

Wǒmen xiān xiàyǔ le, hòulái tiān qíng le.

It rained first, and later the weather cleared up.
