Literary Adjective Patterns
文言色彩形容词结构
How it works
At HSK6 level, students often meet adjective structures with literary flavor, especially in formal writing and refined narrative. These expressions may come from classical Chinese influence or from modern formal prose.
Examples include words or phrases such as:
甚为 (shèn wéi) very; highly
极其 (jíqí) extremely
颇为 (pō wéi) rather; quite
颇具 (pō jù) possess a considerable degree of
略显 (lüè xiǎn) appear somewhat
Example sentences
这篇发言稿文字虽然不多,但内容颇为深刻,足以引起大家的进一步思考。
Although this speech is brief, its content is quite profound and gives the audience plenty to think about.
他的回答表面上看似平静,实际上却略显犹豫。
His answer seemed calm on the surface, but in fact appeared somewhat hesitant.
从整体效果来看,这部作品在构思和表达上都极其成熟。
Judging from the overall effect, this work is extremely mature both in conception and expression.
Key point
These structures are important not because one fixed pattern generates them all, but because they represent a higher stylistic layer of descriptive Chinese.
