Expressing Condition with “nǎpà”
哪怕……也……
How it works
哪怕……也…… (nǎpà...yě...) means “even if,” “even though,” or “even if it is only...” It often emphasizes that even the smallest, most difficult, or least likely condition still does not change the result.
Compared with 即使 (jíshǐ), 哪怕 (nǎpà) often sounds more emotional and more emphatic.
Example sentences
哪怕只剩下一点点希望,我们也不能在这个时候轻易放弃。
Even if only a tiny bit of hope remains, we still cannot easily give up at this moment.
哪怕别人一时不能理解你的选择,你也要先对得起自己真正的想法。
Even if others cannot understand your choice for the moment, you still need to first be true to what you really think.
哪怕只是多走一步,有时候结果都会完全不一样。
Even if it is only one extra step, sometimes the result can become completely different.
Key point
哪怕 (nǎpà) often emphasizes the minimal or difficult condition and adds emotional force.
