Coincidence with “zhènghǎo”

正好

zhènghǎo

How it works

正好 (zhènghǎo) means “just right,” “exactly,” or “it so happens that.” It is used when time, number, situation, or condition matches perfectly.

This grammar point often shows:

a perfect match in number or amount

a perfect match in time

a convenient coincidence

The pattern

Subject + 正好 (zhènghǎo) + Verb / Predicate

Example sentences

我来得正好。

Wǒ lái de zhènghǎo.

I came at just the right time.

我们有四个人,正好一辆车。

Wǒmen yǒu sì ge rén, zhènghǎo yí liàng chē.

There are four of us, and one car is exactly enough.

他今天正好在家。

Tā jīntiān zhènghǎo zài jiā.

He just happens to be at home today.

Key point

正好 (zhènghǎo) often has a positive or convenient feeling. It suggests that something matches the need very well.

For example:

现在五点,正好可以去接他。 Xiànzài wǔ diǎn, zhènghǎo kěyǐ qù jiē tā. It is five o’clock now, which is just the right time to go pick him up.
