guānyú vs duìyú

How it works

Both are formal words, but they serve different functions.

关于 (guānyú) = about, regarding a topic

对于 (duìyú) = toward / with regard to, often introducing attitude, opinion, or reaction

我有一个关于学习的问题。

Wǒ yǒu yí ge guānyú xuéxí de wèntí.

I have a question about studying.

对于这个问题，我有不同的看法。

Duìyú zhège wèntí, wǒ yǒu bùtóng de kànfǎ.

As for this problem, I have a different opinion.

这本书是关于中国历史的。 / 大家对于他的决定很支持。

Zhè běn shū shì guānyú Zhōngguó lìshǐ de. / Dàjiā duìyú tā de juédìng hěn zhīchí.

This book is about Chinese history. / Everyone supports his decision.

A simple rule:

关于 (guānyú) = topic

对于 (duìyú) = attitude or position toward something
