Expressing “Anyway” with “fǎnzhèng”
反正
How it works
反正 (fǎnzhèng) means “anyway,” “in any case,” or “regardless.” It is used when the speaker wants to say that the final result or attitude will stay the same, no matter what.
It often gives the feeling that the speaker has already made up their mind, or that one condition will not change the conclusion.
The pattern
反正 (fǎnzhèng) + Clause
Example sentences
反正明天是周末,今天晚一点睡也没关系。
Anyway, tomorrow is the weekend, so it does not matter if I sleep a bit later tonight.
你去不去都行,反正我已经决定去了。
It does not matter whether you go or not; anyway, I have already decided to go.
反正事情已经这样了,现在最重要的是想办法解决。
Anyway, things are already like this, and the most important thing now is to think of a solution.
Key point
反正 (fǎnzhèng) often carries a feeling of finality, indifference, or acceptance.
