Either... Or... with “huòzhě”

或者……或者……

huòzhě...huòzhě...

How it works

或者……或者…… (huòzhě...huòzhě...) means “either... or...” It presents two or more alternatives in a structured way.

Compared with single 或者 (huòzhě), the repeated form sounds more deliberate and balanced.

Example sentences

这件事你可以或者自己处理,或者先跟大家商量以后再决定。

Zhè jiàn shì nǐ kěyǐ huòzhě zìjǐ chǔlǐ, huòzhě xiān gēn dàjiā shāngliang yǐhòu zài juédìng.

For this matter, you can either handle it yourself or first discuss it with everyone and then decide.

明天的安排还没完全确定,或者上午出发,或者下午开完会以后再走。

Míngtiān de ānpái hái méi wánquán quèdìng, huòzhě shàngwǔ chūfā, huòzhě xiàwǔ kāi wán huì yǐhòu zài zǒu.

Tomorrow’s arrangements have not been completely settled yet: either we leave in the morning or we leave after the meeting in the afternoon.

这个问题要么是方法不对,或者就是数据本身有问题。

Zhège wèntí yàome shì fāngfǎ bú duì, huòzhě jiù shì shùjù běnshēn yǒu wèntí.

This problem is either due to the wrong method, or there is something wrong with the data itself.

Key point

This structure is useful when clearly presenting two alternative possibilities.
